What is Affiliate Marketing
Affiliate
marketing is a business method in which you may represent other
people's work and earn a commission when orders are placed. I do
this for individuals with whom I've made arrangements as well as
through third party companies such as Clickbank
and Paydotcom
I
personally am both a vendor, merchant or product owner depending
on the affiliate management system and an affiliate. My website is
huge thanks to affiliate marketing. There's no way I'd have the
skills or time to produce so many products myself of such variety.
Most newbies however start with just one or two products of
personal interest to them.
What is Paydotcom
Paydotcom
is an affiliate management company which keeps track of affiliate
payments which are paid for through Paypal.
For those who haven't heard your customers do not need a Paypal
account to buy anything through Paypal. Your customers may use
their credit cards through Paypal's secure server. Paydotcom has a
market place for shoppers and vendors. Vendors products are placed
in the market place free of charge after one sale is made.
Why
Use Paydotcom for Affiliate Programs
Free
Sign Up for Affiliates - Not that big of a deal really. It's
to affiliate management companies advantage to have free sign up
for affiliates since they receive a small percentage of each sale,
which is how they make their money.
Free Sign Up for Vendors! - Now THAT'S a big deal.
Even Clickbank charges, as of writing this $50.00 per account. The
free vendor sign up is for the first product. After that, as of
writing this, there's a ridiculously low lifetime fee of less than
$30.00 to submit an UNLIMITED number of products. Anyone who
doesn't want to invest $30.00 into their business should probably
find a nice hourly wage job. Again this is for vendors only.
Affiliates may sign up to sell as many products as they wish.
Individual Sales or Landing Pages - Yes, my
Clickbank affiliates all land on a single
page Though this could lead to multiple sales, I believe it
will more easily add to confusion on the part of a prospective
buyer. I could remedy this by paying $50.00 for another Clickbank
account and wait for orders of that product with five credit cards
to be paid OR I can set up a new product through Paydotcom and
assign a completely separate sales page WITH the same account. Now
my affiliates may select product which only go with the theme if
their website if they have one.
Individual Commissions Per
Product - Unlike Clickbank different commissions can be setup per
individual product.
Products Can Be Linked -
Originally, I was sending my affiliates to Clickbank for a single
simple code to represent all my products. With this new feature,
the merchant has the option of linking all or some of his/her
products together. Thus ensuring affiliates are paid for upgrades
during sales and even after the original product is purchased by
the customer. I personally have linked ALL my products. I'd rather
err on the side of my affiliate.
Recurring
Payments -Affiliates are paid for subscription services
Immediate Payment Through Paypal - For security,
Clickbank makes vendors wait until five credit cards have been
used before mailing a check. Paydotcom vendors receive immediate
payment. Now vendors may withhold payment for affiliates up to 30
days depending on their return policy.
Return Policy Up
to The Vendors! - One of Clickbank merchants' huge complaints
is Clickbank's borderline insane customer blinks wrong return
policy. Paypal will negotiate with complaints but they seem to
understand both parties have rights. Since Paydotcom only manages
the affiliate program, they have nothing to do with any
negotiations.
Physical Products Can Be Sold Through
PDC! - That's correct. You're not limited to digital products,
though they continue to be the most popular due to ease of
delivery and instant gratification of customers. CDs to clothing
may be sold through Paydotcom.
A Great Support Forum -
I am lucky to be able to state I have never been in such a
helpful, giving forum. Other forums I belong to are quite helpful,
don't get me wrong, but I find questions answered in that forum
quickly and clearly. In fact most of the questions new vendors or
affiliates may have may already be found in the forum using the
search feature.
Of All the Wonderful Vendors in Paydotcom, Why Should I Be Your Affiliate?
A
very good question. By all means represent multiple vendors as is
your right as a business owner. Be sure you have good
communication with the vendor. They're responsible for paying you.
Good communication is very important to ensure a good relationship
between the vendor and the affiliate. As both an affiliate and
product owner myself, I've seen some of the pitfalls between
vendors and affiliates and I've done my best to attempt to curtail
any situations which may hinder my affiliates ability to make as
much money as possible incorporating all
of my products and tools
at my affiliates disposal. I am aware the better I communicate and
the more money I can help my affiliate make the more money I can
make for my family and myself.
I've actually witnessed vendors treating affiliates as
competition! A big No No for me as both affiliate and vendor. My
affiliates ARE MY PARTNERS. In fact if you decide to be my
affiliate you'll be my 50 50 partner. I realize I cannot have a
successful product without you and you cannot have a business
without a vendor's products.
